First Herpetology Club Meeting!

Welcome back everyone! I hope you’re ready for a great year of herp related activities. Our first meeting of the semester will take place this Wednesday, September 3rd at 5:00pm in LSII Rm 367. We will have a short presentation from our president David Burkart and then we will discuss our fall trip plans. Hope to see you all there!

Snake Road Trip

The SIU Herpetology Club will be going on a trip to snake road on Sunday April 13th. We will be leaving LS II at 10:30am. This trip will take most of the day as it take about 40 minutes to get there and about 3 hours to walk the road depending on how much we find. The weather looks like it is going to be awesome for this trip and I foresee us encountering many awesome herps! Please remember that there is a high density of venomous snakes crossing the road so keep your eyes peeled, be careful, and enjoy them at a distance. Hope to see you all there!

Zoo Trip!

First of all I want to apologize for not updating you all about the cancelled meeting yesterday. I totally spaced on it. If you showed up sorry about that. In other news, the trip to the St. Louis Zoo is scheduled for Sunday, March 23. We will leave Life Sciences 2 at 9:00am. We are getting a behind the scenes tour or their herp facilities and we will probably explore the rest of zoo as well. At our last meeting we also talked about going to a turtle garden that isn’t far away. It sounds like it should be a good time. Hope to see you all there!

Wildlife Society and Zoology Club meeting tonight

The Wildlife Society and Zoology Club wanted to let us know that they are having a meeting tonight. Here is the quoted text:

“The Wildlife Society & Zoology Club would like to invite you and anyone interested to our meeting this evening(Lawson 201 at 7pm). Dr. James E. Garvey will be speaking about the zoological collections that the department has and he’ll be taking us on a tour of the entire collection!”

Sounds pretty interesting and informative!

Next Meeting

The SIU Herpetology Club’s next meeting will be held on Monday February 24, 2014 at 6:00pm in LSII room 367. We will be discussing ideas about raising funds for the club and the best way to market the club. Come and share your ideas to make this an amazing club!
